Fruit Trees

Natureworks nursery has a wide variety of fruit trees both native and suitable for our varied climate in Hawaii.

Located on Maui, we can ship to any of our neighboring islands.

Egg Fruit

Pouteria campechiana (Sapotaceae family)

Also known as canistel, it is closely related to lucuma, mamey sapote and abiu. Egg Fruit gets its name from the consistency of its flesh, which when ripe, resembles that of a hard-boiled egg yolk.

The flesh has a creamy, mousse-like texture and the flavor is of a roasted sweet pumpkin.

Soursop

Annona muricata (Annonaceae family)

It is also called guanabana or graviola.

This aromatic fruit has a fibrous white flesh, which combines the flavors of mango, pineapple and strawberry.

It can be eaten fresh and used in smoothies or strained to make custards, sorbets and ice creams.

Abiu

Pouteria caimito (Sapotaceae family)

Abiu is native to the Amazon and is generally about 30 ft high but may reach 100 ft in favorable situations.

The fruit is round, sometimes long-tapering at the base with smooth yellow skin when ripe. The translucent flesh is sweet and fragrant, containing 1 to 4 brown seeds.

Until fully ripe, the fruit is permeated with latex and is gummy and astringent.
